Team Working & Innovation
To successfully drive innovation requires various teams, with complimentary capabilities, to work together in harmony. By combining the insights and understanding of a WSABI® Master Practitioner, with the expertise and experience of Accretis innovation consultants, we will help you form the most effective, cohesive teams to create, propel and exploit your new initiatives and improvements.
Prior to adapting the WSABI® profiling system for this purpose we used other team building and psychometric tools with varying degrees of success. None provided the specific details we required and the standard stereotypes and ‘pigeon holes’ were often misleading.
In December 2011 the BBC screened a brilliant documentary about the life and career of the late Steve Jobs. This programme attributed the Apple’s latter day success to the fact that he brought together people with bright ideas with others who ‘joined the dots’, and made sure everyone stayed focussed on his vision. This is, in essence, the purpose of forming a team to drive the innovation process. The members of this team do not, themselves, have to be the innovators but they do have to be networked with those that are, and they have to be commercially astute and able to make the right connections.
During the development of the Transforming Capability toolset (by WMG / Warwick University) the lead investigators recognised that the difference between organisations that succeeded or failed to innovate, was the presence, or absence, of an important linchpin in the innovation process. They termed such a person ‘The Network Leader’ and described the attributes necessary to fulfil this crucial role.
WSABI® is the only profiling system designed specifically for identifying the right people and optimising the various teams, utilising different combinations of attributes, which will initiate, propel and successfully deliver innovation projects.
Of course, our methodology and expertise is also equally suited to constructing and optimising teams for other purposes as well. To do this, we don’t stereotype people or sort them into pigeon holes, we analyse the specific role requirements and match these with the right individuals, following detailed analysis of their capabilities and preferred working styles.
